They ground the bottom to keep from pulling the blade off the mower. Craftsman engineered a few things like that to make them easier to sharpen. Their chainsaw had a similar feature.

The blade is ground on the wrong side. Looks like someone was being lazy and just flipped her over. The trouble with that is the blade won't be balanced and the way it's ground from the top actually sucks the grass up to be cut.

I changed the oil in my mower yesterday. I really hate turning the mower on it's side to drain the oil. Just seems hokey to me. So I took a class jar, drilled holes for the fittings, and hooked that up to my vacuum pump and sucked the oil out. I got the idea from watching Project Farm.

I wudda pressure washed the schitt out of the bottom of it. Probably not any less work when you consider dragging the pressure washer out, unreeling the hose, and all that, but it sure gets things like that clean!

LOL... I was talking to a guy at work. He was having problems with his lawn mower. It wouldn't start when he took it out to cut the grass. So he went inside to talk to his father in law about it. When he came out, a guy was loading up his mower. So he's like "Hey man, what are you doing?". So anyway, the guy thought it was a free mower. He ended up giving 10 bucks for it since it didn't run.

that blade was for a dual blade deck with one blade clockwise, the other counter CW. the grind was too good to be done by a homeowner with an angle grinder.

Most mowers with big back wheels have negative camber about 1 degree as do many cars for curves and stability. But at any rate the deck is flimsy so it may go right back.

Good educational videos, and I believe that tire and rim are made in China,or Mexico. SO it was probably made that way. So it will last for a year or two, unlike American made, old school. Don't EVER leave gas in it over the winter, and make sure it's got good oil. Also I run premium gas in all ALL of my small engine equipment. Thanks again Wonka Luv.

so i collect mowers that have been set out on the curb, and i have a lot. i seen a personal pace model with a bag and it's locked up, is what the culprit of it being on the curb. i bring it home a week later i decide to see how bad it's problem is. i'm thinking cam or crank rod as it turns 180 and stops forward and backwards. so i clean it up and so i'm under the hood and nothing seems to be hitting anywhere but noticed a feel that there was something preventing the blade from going around so i push a little harder and it gives a little. this is a 1 pull guaranteed mower, 300 bucks with little time on it. and as i push the blade farther it creaks and then something freed. runs like a champ now. i found a 3/4 hp cooler motor on the curb the other day. with the cord and pulley. i'm thinking if i can get that pulley off, i'll be happy so i get it off after 2 days of meticulous efforts because they break easy and this motor is 10 yrs old but turns well, not very muuch shaft play either. they probably threw it away just to be preventative maintenence minded. so i take the shaft out and see what was wrong. that spring loader starter coil connector had lost a spring. i finagle one that is close. put it together and it's the smoothest running 3/4 hp i've ever seen, starts right up and spins nice. power. those things last almost forever just change the bushing if it's worn, a bearing maybe if it's been run long with it being worn, but the bushings are couple dollars. that motor i got is a 175 dollar motor, it's a 2 speed copperline 2206. i like mowers with bags and gas in the tank. find them all the time.

I bought a Victa 2 stroke rotary lawn mower new in January 1999 . Last Century now. Done a lot of work, mowed the lawns with it today, started 3rd pull on the cord. 21 years old. Always put a new air-filter in every couple of years, have to look after the old girl...Same week I bought the lawnmower I bought a new Washing machine and, a Dryer. They're still going too .Use them every day.

@Dr. Love But the resources are being wasted. I would be more concerned about scrapping good things than running diesel cars, for example. Most people think they're eco when they run electric car, but they don't care about buying a lawnmower every 3 years or producing tons of trash, wasting water, electricity, etc.
